Q&A time with me.

Meet our Digital Marketing Specialist, Caroline Arapoff.

Who has been your biggest marketing inspiration?

I admire Richard Branson. He is amazing at marketing himself and his brand. I follow his blogs, articles and videos. He is a real inspiration and makes me feel like anything is possible by being so genuine and relatable. Maybe one day when I’m rich and famous I'll get to meet him!

What gets you out of bed in the morning?

I have a champagne taste lifestyle, so I need to fund it somehow. No really, I'm so lucky that I love my job. I’ve always lived and breathed marketing. I get a real kick out of knowing that a client is bettering or achieving their business goals through my ability to lead and manage their digital marketing goals.

Who has influenced you most professionally and why?

My parents are my biggest influence. I’ve always looked up to my dad because of his incredible work ethic and his own success. He taught me that the key to success is to love what you do, work hard and stick at something. My mum is also amazing, she has a huge heart and has encouraged me to follow mine.

What has been the career path that has led you to where you are now?

I have always been creative and had a natural flair for the arts and technology. I studied a Bachelor of Consumer and Applied Sciences at Otago. Followed by a Post Graduate Diploma in Event Management. I started working in event management, but my heart was in marketing. When I saw the digital marketing role come up at PlasticStudio, the rest is history! Even better that it’s in a creative agency. Helps to get my creative marketing juices flowing.

What do you love the most about working at PlasticStudio?

The best thing is the tight-knit team and the work culture. Plus our bosses are epic! Thanks to Richard and Phoebe Edge who have made cultural fit a priority. I am so lucky to work with such a fun, vibrant, and multi-talented team. Our studio is filled with a range of personalities, we all get on so well - like family!

How has the digital marketing industry changed in the last few years?

The biggest change in the last few years has been the mass adoption of the internet - everyone is constantly connected and being marketed to, more so than ever in the last 5 years.

New, fast-paced digital technology has meant more businesses are online more now than ever. In such a busy digital world, credibility and authenticity are important! Businesses need to be more transparent and more intelligent about their spending also. The digital marketing industry continues to speed up with changes every month - it's exciting that it continues to evolve.

What’s your favourite 90’s jam?

‘Wannabe’ by the Spice Girls. I was the biggest fan. So much so that for three years straight I listened to the Spice Girls every day - I was beyond obsessed! I don’t think I've had that sort of loyalty to a band since. Makes for a great karaoke song too.

When it’s all over, how do you want to be remembered?

Sounds very cliche but I'd like to be remembered as a good person, who did good things! I have a few quirks that I hope will stay with me forever - I’m a glitter bug and I like to brighten up people's lives with my silly and light-hearted approach to things. I’m ‘that’ person who believes in unicorns at 30… enough said!
